Drilling Shallow & Deep Wells

Water is the most vital human need, but more than a billion people around the world are struggling to reach it. Nearly 5,000 children die every day due to water pollution. More than 2 billion of the world's population lack sanitation facilities and clean drinking water. Travelling on foot for at least 5kms away from home, twice a day, to get water is a daily task for the Ugandan (African) children from the time they learn how to walk. Childhood in Uganda means spending more than 8hrs a day going back and forth to the pond through roads full of snakes and dangerous animals carrying gallons of water for the basic needs of the family. Unfortunately the water brought by the child from the pond is often filled with disease and insects. Drilling boreholes is their rescue and solution and that's why this is Firdous' major priority. As FCO, we announce our partners' donations by laying a foundation stone at each well which they funded, as a way of thanking them and also that the community keep their gratitude. 279 BORE HOLES HAVE BEEN SO FAR BUILT OVER OUR TIMES OF OPERATION.

REPAIRING BORE HOLES

It's a huge problem when the only bore hole in the village breaks down. Young kids who are less than 4 years old, will have to walk double the distance to get water from the nearest village. Some times the bore holes remain faulty for more than 5 - 10 years although fixing it doesn't cost more than $100.
In some villages we repair boreholes that have stayed faulty for over 15 years. Repairing those faulty boreholes theretofore can help them out and save effort, time and life!

BUILDING SCHOOLS

Ugandan children walk long distances to reach their schools which in most of the cases are in poor conditions. Since these schools cannot provide a shelter from the heavy rains and strong winds of Uganda, we decided to replace them with schools, properly built using stone and cement.
This will make their life easier and provide them with an enhanced learning experience, without the need to walk for hours to get education.

LIVE STOCK PROJECTS

"Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day; but teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a life time".
Maybe there is no much fishing in the vast green lands of Uganda, but there are many families who can rely on livestock as their source of living.
Little support by offering livestock will make them happy and not in the need of others' help or donation.

STUDENTS' TUITION FEES

Not all the Ugandan children are lucky enough to go to school and get their education. In some villages, only a few children have this privilege and this is due to the poverty and expensive tuition fees. Those who are lucky enough to go to school are called (Hope of the Village) and when they return home, they have to teach the other kids in the village. Some times even the "hope of the village" can not pay the fees and by this all the village will lose the hope that is given by a proper education.
OUR TARGET IS NOT ONLY TO GET EDUCATION FOR THE HOPE OF THE VILLAGE, BUT IS A MUST AND A RIGHT FOR THE ENTIRE VILLAGE.

BUILDING HOUSES

"Home Sweet Home" is a saying most people do not have the privilege to say in Uganda.
In Ugandan villages, most people live in wooden cottages and huts, unprotected form rain and dangerous winds. No beds, no washrooms nor kitchens for a descent living.
Literally what they regard as houses are merely and literally just locations. In reality, it is a new life to live in a new house with strong and properly built walls which will at least make them feel more secured.

There are lots of Muslims in Uganda, who all want to pray and learn the Quran but mosques are few, old and small.
Little support can improve this state, create more space to accommodate more people, ablution areas can be added and widened and special areas for women and children to be put in place.
You can never forget how people kneel down when you give them a scarf or rosary for praying.....so how much more grateful will they be when a full mosque with all the necessary amenities is built for them?

SPECIAL NEEDS

Poverty + Disease + Disability = A SPECIAL NEED PERSON
We are empathetic about those with special needs who either walk on clutches, they either can't see or hear or talk, plus other unspeakable and unthinkable conditions.
Humanity has no meaning is we can't give them a hand and hope for a better future.
During our last meeting with them, they said that all they need is someone to remember them and that they may also have the feeling of belonging in this world. They also asked us for any life sustenance project that they may cease to live as dependents on other people
Therefore we decided to give them a hand by opening for them goats and fish projects which are fairly manageable by a partially abled person.
With your kind and generous contributions, we can help even the more with such special need cases.

MEDICAL CARE

If you or your child started coughing and sneezing today, you run immediately to the closest clinic and hospital to get medical attention. How about cancer patients and patients who need a kidney dialysis frequently and they are not in a capable position?
Hospitals in Uganda lack sufficient medications and can not afford to pay a qualified physician.
Hospitals in Uganda lack sufficient medications and can not afford to pay a qualified physician. Normal people's lives in Uganda are averagely miserable, so then you can imagine a sick person's life then.
Due to poverty, sick Ugandan people may remain in pain for years without getting the right medication or even a pain killer. They therefore need great support to access this basic right of proper medical care.
This help will directly go to them to ease their suffering and pain.

DEBTORS

Due to poverty, some Ugandans ask for debts to cover daily expenses as transport, education, accommodation and even feeding.
But harsh conditions and circumstances make them poor again and they can't pay back these debts. Un fortunately, this drives them to imprisonment, yet their families need them to stay around to give a hand in their daily living,

SPONSORING STUDENT TICKETS

"The sky is the limit" But unfortunately in Uganda, the village fence or the wooden logs around the house are the limit.
Many children are deprived from the right of education because of poverty and they need to help families with the house chores or walk long distances to get water, etc.
Some fortunate students who finished school re not lucky enough to join colleges although they get scholarships, only because they can not afford to pay for the airline tickets and thence unfortunately they lose the scholarship because they did not collect enough money for the travel ticket.
Little help can make dreams become true and enrich the poor and deprived society to be pioneers in different specialization.
